SOS MÉDITERRANÉE

Only this year it is estimated that more than 2500 refugees drowned in the Mediterranean Sea. It is our sincere wish to contribute in meaningful ways, by saving human lives in the Mediterranean. Our mission is threefold: equipping, coordinating and deploying European civil society rescue ships for rescue operations in the Mediterranean. Providing medical, psychological and social support to the refugees. Informing the European public about the situation of the refugees in the Mediterranean and also informing potential refugees in the countries of their origin about the dangers and many obstacles of the flight to Europe.

SOS Méditerranée is a humanitarian initiative, committed to the respect of human lives and human dignity, politically and religiously independent, bipartisan and without partiality to social, religious, political or ethnic affiliation. It is our goal to establish a European-wide network of regional SOS Méditerranée societies.

SOS Méditerranée est une association indépendante de tout parti politique et de toute confession, qui se fonde sur le respect de l’homme et de sa dignité, quelle que soit sa nationalité, son origine, son appartenance sociale, religieuse, politique ou ethnique.

SOS Méditerranée a vocation à porter assistance à toute personne en détresse sur mer se trouvant dans le périmètre de son action, sans aucune discrimination. Les personnes concernées sont des hommes, femmes ou enfants, migrants ou réfugiés, se retrouvant en danger de mort lors de la traversée de la Méditerranée.

SOS Méditerranée est financée par des dons privés et des subventions publiques. Les fonds collectés sont alloués à la location du bateau, aux frais quotidiens d’entretien et de sauvetage (soit au total 77 000 euros par semaine).
